North
Georgia and Western North Carolina offer you a special welcome during
the fall season. It is a place where the signs of the season never
fail to dazzle. Balmy summer days are quietly replaced with a slight
nip in the morning breeze. The mountains transform into amber hues,
capturing the sunlight, while sleepy lakes and streams snare tumbling
leaves.
The
Southern Highroad Trail wanders through northern Georgia and western
North Carolina with breathtaking views, friendly people and fun-filled
activities. If you have the time you can tour the full 360 miles
of The Highroad Trail winding through the Southern Appalachian Mountains
of Tennessee, Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina, four
national forests and a variety of small mountain towns. Only 12
miles away is Brasstown Bald, the highest point in Georgia, with
an elevation of 4,784 feet and a 360 degree observation deck.
Other
scenic highways are the remarkable Blue Ridge Parkway, a scenic
two-lane highway in the sky and The Richard Russell Scenic Highway
that takes you to the quaint Alpine Village of Helen, GA. And don’t
forget “Apple Orchard Alley” out on highway 52 out of
Ellijay, Ga.
