Spring:
(March 15- June 15) Spring brings a renewed life to the mountains.
There are abundant wild flowers, rushing streams and abounding wild
life. You can expect chilly mornings and nights with daytime temperatures
between 65 and 75 degrees.
Summer:
(June 15- September 15) Warm days and cool nights of summer lure
you to the great outdoors to enjoy the many recreational activities
in Clay County. Hiking, fishing, boating, golfing or horseback riding
are popular pastimes. Temperatures range from 55 to 80 degrees.
Fall:
(September 15-December 15) Fall announces the arrival of the leaf
season with an explosion of color to the mountains. A collage of
brilliant colors, painting the mountains with red and gold, peak
in mid to late October. This is the perfect time for a scenic drive,
hiking one of the many trails or visiting the many fall festivals.
Nighttime temperatures range from 20 to 40 degrees with the chance
of an occasional snow, especially in the higher elevations. The
daytime temperatures range from 60 to 70 degrees and as low as 30
to 40 degrees in early December.
Winter:
(December 15-March 15) Mild winters offer Clay County visitors a
quiet season to explore the area and enjoy the warmth of friends
gathering around a cozy fire. It is a good time to visit the numerous
shops located close by. Nighttime temperatures can dip into the
teens especially during January and February, but daytime temperatures
will range from 20 to as high as 50 degrees. This is the most likely
time for a snowfall and a good time to visit one of the near by
ski slopes.
